Medical Attendant Visa
Up to 2 companions (family members) can travel with you on a Medical Attendant Visa (e-MAV). They must travel at the same time as you. Additional documents required:
- Proof of relationship to the patient (passport, marriage certificate, birth certificate)
- Copy of the patient's Medical Visa application
- Their own completed e-Medical Attendant Visa (e-MAV) form
- Bank statement or financial support letter

How long is an Indian Medical Visa valid?
The e-Medical Visa is valid for 60 days from the date of arrival with up to 3 entries. For longer treatment stays, you can apply for a regular Medical Visa sticker at the Indian embassy, which can be issued for up to 1 year.
Can I extend my Medical Visa inside India?
Yes. Medical Visas can be extended by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India if your treatment requires a longer stay. Your hospital or MedyBridge coordinator can assist with the extension process.
Do all nationalities qualify for the e-Medical Visa?
The e-Medical Visa is available to nationals of 156+ countries. Citizens of Pakistan, Afghanistan and a few other countries must apply at the Indian embassy/consulate in their country.
How many attendants can accompany me?
Up to 2 companions can travel on a Medical Attendant Visa. They must travel at the same time as you and return when you do (or before).
Can I sightsee in India on a Medical Visa?
Yes. There is no restriction on travelling within India for leisure during your recovery period, as long as your primary purpose of visit is medical treatment.
What if my visa is denied?
